Microsoft Outlook Integration with Content Manager
With an easily deployed, centrally administered Outlook plug-in, Email Manager allows end-users to index and direct emails into any existing back-end content repository. Index values are stored within each email, therefore recipients are not required to re-index upon receipt or reply. Reply-to emails will be exported with the associated index values, maintaining the entire conversation thread. The Email Manager plug-in also monitors outlook for emails which have been indexed with job #, employee name, document type, etc. These emails are then exported to the appropriate content repository using web services from any connection. Many companies have Outlook running on the desktop and deploy their enterprise applications through Citrix or Terminal Services. Email Manager connects any 2007/2010 Outlook client to the back-end content management repository through web services. The web service provides content manager with the .MSG file, the Email Manager index values, Outlook metadata such as To, From, Date, Subject, and any attachments within an email. The index values are mapped to the content repository, where the email and its attachments will be stored. Users then have all of the native full text and index search from within Content Manager. Emails and attachments are viewed with the native document viewers available within Content Manager. Custom searching, security, and retention policies can be applied to your email correspondence as they are now stored in a managed central repository. |
